Tom Ford

Tom Ford SS15
Womenswear, Make-up & hair

For Spring/Summer 2015, TOM FORD creates looks that are long and lean, with a certain rock'n'roll sensuality. Ford references his own work of the 70's but updates the silhouette with a contemporary edge. Shoes are heavier, heels are higher and the new clog anchors the silhouette, creating a longer leg. The new "camera bag" is the perfect size for the woman who wants just her phone, lipstick, keys and cash. The hair and makeup of the season features a smokey eye, and slightly spiky tousled hair. Cocktail evening is inspired by Ford's collection of vintage Carlo Mollini photographs and his fascination with the tension and relationship between fashion and sensuality.

This assessment for me has been
self-reliant, self-sufficient, and I
must say its been a great experience.

Instruction:

I started with the hair first and set all the hair directional backwards.

Once the hair was finished and set, I started with make-up.
I first cleansed, toned and moisturised the face.

I then prepped the eyes for the eyeshadow by
applying M.A.C Studio Pro Conceal Palette,
a very little amount on the eyelid, and then applied Kryolan loose translucent powder to set it.
For eyeshadow I used
M.A.C Backtrack Gel Eye liner. The trick with using Gel eye liner is, once applied, you have to blend it very quickly otherwise it drys fast!
I first drew flicked eyeliner and I used that as my guideline for the eyeshadow, as my eyeshadow's shape was like a flicked eyeliner.
I then used
Black

mixed with Coco brown to give the eyeshadow a smoky effect and Naturalle
Shell to highlight just under the brows from Nye-Glam Eye Shadow palette.

I then cleaned under the eyes, to remove any traces of black eyeshadow or any other residue.
I used Kryolan D32 (to cover the dark circles) under the eyes, after I to apply M.A.C Studio Pro Concealer a very little amount on the top of D32.

For the Base I used M.A.C. Studio Fix
(Full coverage).
I set the foundation with Kryolan loose translucent powder.

For the eyebrows I used Collection EB Kit - brown mixed with a small amount of black. When applying I kind of stroked the brush upwards to give that combed, brushed effect eyebrows.
I then used clear eyebrow mascara from No7 to hold the eyebrows in the upwards position a bit like the 1970s style.

For contouring I used Make-Up ForEver sculpting kit because the pigments are fantastic, depending on how much you put on.
For blusher I used M.A.C Powder blusher Feur Powder.
For the lips I wanted something natural and simple, because I had very strong, heavy eyes, I wanted the lips to be very natural, with almost nothing on.
So, I used Autograph Nude Pink, without lip liner, and I used my index finger in a dabbing motion, mainly concentrating on the middle of the lips.

I applied La La Lashes using
Due Glue, my lashes were medium size.

Hair

I took off the rollers and brushed the hair using my fingers, because I didn't want to lose the curls.
I then used the hair straightener for my model's French, to give her a side brushed french, very natural and wavy, again mainly using my fingers, because I find this very effective when you wanna achieve natural curls and not lose the curls.
I used a lot of hair spray to hold the hair in position.

These are some images I have taken.
I have edited all my own pictures as there were communication problems with my photographer.
I did my best to achieve a professional result, and the main magazine cover, again, I did everything myself.

Picture 1

On pictures 1,2 and 3 I wanted complete simplicity, natural beauty. Thats why I chose Bare "SKIN".
To me this represents confidence and simplicity.
I chose denim hot pants and 1970s Platform shoes because it represents SS15 Fashion trends.

Picture 2

I had a few ideas of what I wanted for my cover and my model to wear. I bought a 1970s swimsuit from River island in pictures
4,5 and 6.

Feeling inspired & my final Cover

Feeling Inspired
By Tom

Feeling inspired can often be instantaneously the moment when your imagination starts to flow with ideas. This was the case with me; it is the reason behind my chosen Spring/Summer chosen designer Tom Ford.

The common trend of the season involved mostly the wet sleek hair look, with nature and simple make up. The main theme in this season has been simplicity. However, Tom Ford being the unique designer he is notorious for, did it once again with his Spring/Summer fashion show.

I had the idea of what I wanted from my final assessment, but it lacked inspiration this is where Tom Ford came in. Other designers played it safe with simplicity in regards to the makeup and hair but Tom Form went in the opposite direction. His makeup and hair were bold and heavy; with Smokey-eyes and bouncy tousled hair it was a true reflection of the 1970s era. The simplicity trend was seen in the clothing, either completely bare or partly covered top with dark heavy trousers or bottoms.

The simplicity in the clothing area was the idea I initially started with, mostly because my chosen magazine was LOVE magazine. But my inspiration for the hair and makeup was Tom Ford. The heavy eye makeup and 1970s hair transformed the look, from simple to provocative, which was exactly what I wanted.

SS15 Fashion Trends Overview

Spring 2015 is full of Seventies fashion throwbacks, plus covetable statement denim and warrior-worthy accessories.

When I look at SS15, HIPPIE is what I
think of.

NYFW-SS15
Colour palette

Colour for SS15 is exciting:

The poster's shades of red, yellow, blue and green felt positively raucous compared to the mute pastels of the past summer season. The all-over whites we’ve been seeing for two seasons have returned, most notably at Michael Kors, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Victoria Beckham, but they felt freshest when paired with slices of sunshine yellow, truest red, high energy blues and grassy green. The bolder still took these colours in their own right: a divine pair of billowing green pants at Delpozo, a fringed Yves Klein knit at Milly, Kors’ radiant yellow buckled smock and a traffic-stopping tomato skater dress at DKNY. The graphic combo of black and white attracted a big following: Narciso Rodergiuez, Opening Ceremony, Versus, Rodart - I could go on, but take my word,
it’s a trend.

Seventies Show

The crochet, the flares, the fringing! Dust off your lava lamps folks, for SS15 is going to be one big Seventies time warp. From Tommy Hilfiger’s retro fashion festival to Henry Holland’s groupie girl tribute, the references came in direct from the decade.

Key spring 2015 trend pieces: A billowing boho dress, flared trousers, clashing florals.

Denim Delights

Denim? A new trend?
It might sound like we’re stating the obvious, but designers were determined to put their own stamp on everyone’s favourite fabric this season.
Burberry worked it into cropped indigo mini-jackets while Stella McCartney built her entire collection around a series of statement-topstitch separates. Tod’s even fashioned it into slick tailoring. Totally office-appropriate, right?

Sweet Suede

As well as in more obvious Seventies stylings, suede appeared in some totally modern, even work-wear appropriate separates this season.
Pastel colours, super-fine weights and butter soft finishes to make the fabric
summer-ready.

The Disc Earring

More Pattie Boyd than Pat Butcher, statement earrings made a comeback at Emporio Armani, Moschino and Roberto Cavalli for SS15, after a winter dominated by subtle studs. Circles are the shape of the season - Armani stuck to a single drop while Louis Vuitton's clusters were backed with chains for a hard rock edge.

disc earrings.

Power Flowers

Allow vivid floral prints to take over your entire look, right down to the accessories. Graphic bags reigned at Marni, Topshop Unique and Fendi, but the prize for best clash-off has to go to Valentino for those claret and cobalt combos.

Disco Platforms

Towering heels are back, say Saint Laurent, Tom Ford and Victoria Beckham – and who are we to argue with those glam (rock) gods? Team with a cool crop jacket, head-banger hair and a whole lotta attitude before you storm the stage.

SS15 Fashion Make-Up Trends

Bare-Faced

Marc Jacobs
Arguably the most frequently heard words backstage at the shows were "Natural", "minimal", and "real" - from the concealer-only look at Proenza Schouler to the wash-and-go hair at Dries Van Noten and Isabel Marant. This isn't the first time we've witnessed barely-there beauty backstage at the shows, but it is the first time we've seen models go onto the catwalk completely make-up-free, as they did at Marc Jacobs.

The Return Of The Red Lip

Top shop
Unique Lipstick fans rejoice, every imaginable hue of red was present at the spring/summer shows, after the almost entirely lipstick-free autumn looks. At Missoni it was orange-tinged, at Burberry Prorsum and Zac Posen it was bold scarlet and at Topshop Unique and Dolce & Gabbana the lips came in the richest of smudgy berry hues. Welcome back, old friend.

The Anti Cat-Eye

Narciso Rodriguez
Black eyeliner never goes out of style, but the way to wear it for spring/summer 2015 is from the middle of the eyes extended past the outer corners, as at Céline, Prada and Narciso Rodriguez or in a bold line underneath a la Just Cavalli. And not as a retro cat-eye - keep the line straight and strong for a truly graphic effect. Bored of black? Try Peter Philips' trick at Fendi and Christian Dior, where he applied strips of coloured plastic or fabric in the place of liner.

 High Shine

Marni
No more heavily-powdered matt skin - complexions were decidedly dewy at the likes of Marni, Simone Rocha and Donna Karan, with lipgloss used on the lids to reflect light at Thakoon and Blumarine. The word "sweaty" was even used at Marc by Marc Jacobs and Missoni, with Andrew Gallimore going as far as to create perspiration-like beads of gel to apply to the models' faces at Teatum Jones. See also Prabal Gurung, Jean-Pierre Braganza and MM6, where the sweatiness extended to the hair.
