The History of Marie Caire Magazine

In 1937, the title Marie Claire was created by Jean Prouvost. Marie Claire would become the first magazine aimed at women, encouraging them to consider their own autonomy, charm and personal development.

Today, the family of magazines carrying the name Marie Claire hasn't lost any of these pursuits.
Each magazine still works to show readers a different view of the world and it's people. While backing up women on their path to freedom and pushing them to develop their curiosity, Marie Claire also accompanies women as they decipher the newest information on fashion, beauty, health and the many other facets of the daily life of women in the 21st century.

After WWII, all magazines who kept
publishing during the occupied France
were considerate like they betrayed their country, that's why Marie Claire reappears  monthly only in 1954 (ELLE replaced
Marie Claire in the heart of French women
in 1945) but Marie Claire is still now
one of the best sellers in France.
